The Central Provincial Government passed its K160 million budget for 2014 this morning atthe Provincial Assembly House at Konedobu in Port Moresby.
The chamber was full as Members ofthe Provincial Assembly heardthe budget allocations being read out bythe Central Governor, Kila Haoda.
The K160 million budget comprisesthe National Government’s funding of K146 million, combined with a projected internal revenue of close to K14 million. Much ofthe money will go to developthe Naima Rice projectoreviving, Ilimo Farm and building a proposed hospital for the people of Central Province.
Mr. Haoda revealed this straight afterthe budget was passed this morning. He said Central Province has been deprived of many benefits from Port Moresby city butthey hope to recoup all this, and urged all public servants to assist and enforcetheir vision.
Member for Goilala, Daniel Mona, also echoedthe same sentiments. He said for too long,the people of Central Province have been spectators and it was time for change. He, like ther fellow Members from Central Province, has development plans for the Goilala District and wants his projects to be implemented.
Withthe budget now been passed, both lLeadershave called on all public servants to performtheir duties diligently. Atthe same time, he wished everyone a safe festive season.
