A man has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment. The case went before Justice Panuel Mogish at the Bomana National Court today.
Allan Aiso, 57, from Aipeana village in the Kairiku-Hiri District of Central Province, was found guilty of the murder of George Evi in 2015, also from the same village.
The court heard that on May 15, 2015, the accused wilfully went to investigate sounds of a distressed pig coming from his garden, it was then that he murdered the deceased for killing the animal.
Justice Mogish told the offender that the life of a human was more valuable than that of a pig, and describing his actions as unlawful and unconstitutional.
The accused will serve his remaining term of 23 years and 6 months in prison with hard labour.
