Speaking yesterday at a news conference, Motu Koita Council Chairman, Apoa Hoada, said more financial assistance is needed to host this major event, celebrated by people from the Motu Koitabu clans. He said for this, Central Villages will also take part.
The inclusion of Central communities is said to bring together the two Papuan groups who have been disconnected in the past 25 years due to land boundary.
This year’s Hiri Moale Festival will be a two day event at Port Moresby’s Ela Beach waterfront.
So far, the National Capital District Commission, Lae Biscuit and Exxon Mobil have thrown their support behind the staging of this event.
