Carrie Underwood: I love George Michael

Carrie Underwood says she 'absolutely fell in love' with George Michael's voice as a child.

The country music star was transfixed by the former Wham! singer's beautiful tones although she knew nothing about him.

The 29-year-old even admitted she used to annoy her siblings by taking their George Michael albums without permission.

'I grew up listening to George Michael a lot and absolutely fell in love with his voice from the second I heard it. Even from being three or four years old, I'm just loving his voice and I'm, like, stealing my sister's cassettes and listening to him – before I knew what he looked like, where he was from or anything. I just loved his voice,' she told British newspaper The Sun.

Carrie has enjoyed a hugely successful career since winning talent show American Idol in 2005.

The star laughed at the notion of there ever being a movie about her life, but revealed she would like Reese Witherspoon to portray her.

'It's too early! But if I died tomorrow and someone wanted to make a movie about me. I always liked Reese Witherspoon. I feel like we have the same stature, we're about the same height – and she can sing!' she said.

Reminiscing about her American Idol days, Carrie revealed that she hasn't kept in touch with any of the judges from the series.

And although she sometimes sees Simon Cowell, she hasn't noticed his penchant for high-waisted trousers.

'It's just the occasional event that I see him at. His trousers? I don't know if I ever looked too closely. But the older people get, the higher the trousers seem to go. That kinda happens?' she laughed.
