Candle Charger Device For Your Power

by Marie Kauna – EMTV Online, Port Moresby

Power outages are unfortunately not uncommon here in Papua New Guinea, and when you include the high prices of energy, finding alternatives to charge your everyday electronics seems like a pretty good idea.

The candle charger is a new device designed for indoor power use for charging smartphones and other smaller devices. The device is described as an indoor power plant that can help you charge your smartphone when the battery is dead and out thus providing the USB capabilities with just the use of a candle and water.

Using the candle charger couldn’t be simpler:

  1. Set and place the candle charger on the stand.
  2. A small tray is designed for water storage. Fill this with water.
  3. Insert the specially designed candle under the tray.
  4. Light the candle.

In an article by David Nield, he stated that one candle canister is reportedly good for six hours of USB charging at a steady rate of 2.5 W(500 Ma at 5V), which is the equivalent output of most laptop USB ports, and is roughly enough power to charge two iPhones from one candle.

To convert water and candle light to power, an inbuilt semiconductor is built into the device which helps to convert the heat from the candle against the water into electricity.

According to the recommendations, water must be changed every 30 minutes, however it can be reduced to 10 minutes to create more power output.

Other devices such as cameras, torches and small devices can also be charged using the device.

The candle charger is safe, easy to use, handy, reliable and can be used anywhere you want to take it.
