Water PNG has revealed that their top creditors in Northern province are from the government’sector and business houses operating in Popondetta Town.
They have also revealed that outstanding debts total to almost K500,000.
In an exclusive interview with Water PNG Popondetta Business Centre Manager, Kingsley Waike, he told EMTV News that government and business houses in Popondetta have failed to pay water bills on time.
“For any business like Water PNG to fully operate, it needs money to fully sustain its operations.
“We will not hesitate to disconnect water supply, if they fail to pay their bills on time,” he said.
With recent flooding in the province, maintenance has been costly for Water PNG Popondetta.
However the company is now working on debt recovery to maintain operations.
“We need the money to balance our sheets, pay debts we have and for other expenses,” Waike said.
He added that Popondetta is a good business centre and proper equipment and water sources are vital in order for a company to operate.
