Buka Urban Council receives K3million from National Government

Finally the PNG National Government has delivered its K3 million to the Buka Urban Council.

This fund was a commitment fulfilled by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, on a pledge made in 2011.

It has been three years since that promise and finally Prime Minister Peter O’Neill fulfilled his commitment. It’s the K3million pledge made on April 4 2011, during the Buka Town Market opening, when he was the Treasurer at that time.

Mr O’Neill in his goodwill speech in Buka said the National Government is serious in redeveloping Bougainville.

Part of its plan is the Buka town road upgrade and sealing.

Buka Town Manageress Brenda Tohiana thanked the Prime Minister for honoring his commitment.

Tohiana also thanked EMTV for following up on this story. She said most stories lack follow-ups, urging journalists to be consistent and do more investigative reporting.

A contract will be appointed by the National Government through the Autonomous Bougainville Government.
