The people in Kerevat, East New Britain province will now save money and time that was previously spent on traveling to Rabaul and Kokopo to do banking.
This is thanks to the opening of the new Kerevat BSP rural branch this week, much to the delight of the people and their leaders.
East New Britain Governor Leo Dion and Gazelle MP Malakai Tabar spoke highly of BSP’s presence in the community.
The new building is located within the district administration grounds.
BSP’s presence now provides a platform to boost economic growth in the Gazelle District. Member for Gazelle and Minister for Higher National News, Malakai Tabar, said the sub-branch opening indicates economic prosperity.
For commodity growers, subsistence farms and local SMEs, the BSP rural branch is a blessing, as it means more time for being productive and less time and money on travel and fuel expenses.
BSP’s deputy general manager (networking), Peter Boutcher, said the bank is helping PNG grow.
Deputy Prime Minister and regional member for East New Britain, Leo Dion said that the opening of the BSP Kerevat branch is an indication of strong relationships built through the private-public business partnership between the government and BSP.
BSP believes the branch in Kerevat will pave the way for the people to participate in economic development and, over time, open more opportunities for progress and growth.
