Central: Isoaimo Attends Council Meeting

Ward councillors in the Mekeo-Kuni Local Level Government in Kairuku Hiri, Central province, were urged to draw up their ward profiles to seek funding for development purposes.

Yesterday, they were delighted to see their local MP, Peter Isoaimo, attending their second council meeting held in Bereina station.

The visit by their local MP Peter Isoaimo was timely and important, as this was the first time a local MP has attended the Local Level Government Assembly meeting and listened to the ward councillor’s objectives.

The 19 ward members, including two women representatives, met and discussed the financial allocation for each ward and the programs they have funded using the LLG funds so far.

The Council President, Bona Ine’e, said they have not received the full LLG DSIP fund allocation of K500, 000.

However, he said they have managed to roll out small projects in the electorate.

Mr Isoaimo, who has been successful in his political career from the ward and LLG level to the provincial assembly and now into the National Parliament, said his electorate is very big and funds have to be distributed equally to the two districts of Kairuku and Hiri.

He urged his councillors to draw up ward profiles and prioritise their development agendas.

He said he stands ready to assist and urged all leaders in his electorate to work together for the common good of the people.
