Biomass Training Underway In Madang

A biomass measuring training is underway in Madang Province.  The training focuses on the total amount of living matter by weight or volume in a given habitat.

Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (US AID), the training engages NGO’s, local community members, government officials and experts how to measure biomass.

The outcome of the training will put decision makers on equal footing of the critical management of forest and its benefits for future generations.

PNG is among the six focus countries supported by the USAID Lowering Emissions in Asia’s Forest program to produce meaningful and sustainable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

USAID LEAF is a five-year cooperative agreement, funded by the USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia. USAID LEAF is being implemented in partnership with SNV – Netherlands Development Organization, Climate Focus, and RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests.

The training started on July 17th and will end on the 25th.
