Round five ofthe Telikom National Soccer League was completed atthe weekend in both Port Moresby and Lae.
A double header in both centres saw new entry, West New Beitain Tavur Football club play its first match in Port Moresby, while BestPNG United Football Club has been dubbed as &ldquothe giant killerrdquo;.
The Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby hostedthe double header on Saturday asthe reigning champs Hekari United FC took on runner’s up Eastern Stars FC.
Eastern Stars tamed Hekari inthe first half as Hekari’scored a late goal by Kema Jack inthe 44th minute. Hekari’s lead extended inthe second half with a goal inthe 56th minute and anther inthe 79th minute.
Eastern Stars Aquila Emil Jnr scored inthe 81st minute before Raymond Gunemba sealed Hekari’s 4th goal and victory inthe 85th minute.
Beth teams were scholars inthe first half till Russell Mirit’scored for the home side inthe 73rd minute. Oro FC defeating Tavuru FC 1-nil.
Tothe double header in Lae, FC POM trashed home side Welgris FC 4-nil; whilethe youth full BestPNG United came out on top defeating a much favorite Morobe FC outfit with a 2 goals to 1 victory, dubbingthem asthe giant killerand a team to watch out for the season.
