Almost reaching the middle of 2017, this year’s focus was on the U18 men’s competition, after three months of trial matches, a team of 14 players were scouted into the train on squad.
Since the selection, the players have been training and speaking off camera yesterday, President, Kila Dick, said the U18 men’s train on squad will be reduced to six players this weekend.
Once the team is narrowed to six players, they will continue their training until May, or June, before the best two will be selected to represent Papua New Guinea.
These two players will then be the only ones training to attend the 2017 Youth Commonwealth Games in the Bahamas from July 19 – 23.

Meanwhile, PNG Volleyball Federation will also send both men’s and women’s team to Fiji for the Commonwealth Games Qualifiers, but in the meantime, trials are continuing and will close at the end of this month.
This qualifier will be critical for PNG as it will determine their place at next year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
Meanwhile the U15 boys and girls, as well as the U18 women’s competition will continue and will see the finals mid-year before next season starts.
