Another star basketball player in the making is Gabriel Elavo, the third generation of the Elavo dynasty in the code of Basketball.
The Pacific Games fan favorite returns to the national side ahead of the FIBA Melanesian Basketball Cup at the end of the this month.
Gabriel Frank Elavo started playing basketball at the age of 8 in his back yard in Hohola and has been playing since then.
Elavo’s first cdall up in the national duties was in 2013.
Playing for the KSS Southern Flames in the Port Moresby Basketball League and national team, Elavo specialises on shooting points and plays both as Shooting and point guard position.
When it comes to basketball, Gabriel is the third generation of the Elavos who represented the country back in the early days.
Coming from a family of six, Gabriel’s youngest sibling also follows the same path, apart from basketball Elavo plays a bit of footy once or twice on the off-season.
Whilst employed as an IT specialist, Elavo balances work and training on a professional level with self confidence.
With already two rep honours for PNG, Elavo believes if the current team sticks to their game plan they should be singing the victory song at the end of the championship.
