Baisu Prison Escapees Still at Large

By Michelle Amba – EM TV News, Mt. Hagen

After more than a year, the 24 prisone’s who escaped from Baisu prison in Western Highlands are still at large. They escaped in October 2014 in a mass breakout.

Prison guards implicated in this break out are still serving the Correctional service while investigations are continuing.

Prison Commander, Timbi Kaulga, refused to comment on the breakout however says investigations are continuing.

Superintendent Kaulga says he wants prison guards to co-operate with each other to prevent future breakouts. He added that all who escaped were prisone’s on remand, waiting for their convictions.

Yesterday, Baisu staff and prisone’s held a dedication program inviting pastors and missionaries to dedicate this year to the Lord.

Prison Commander, Timbi Kaulga, said bad things have happened in the past, like two mass breakouts and they don’t want this repeated this year.

He encouraged all prison guards to work with honesty and co-operate with each other.

The commander said this would be an annual event for Baisu Prison, on the 13th of January, as a day for dedication and prayer.
