The Catholic Bishop Conference General Secretary, Fr Victor Roche, said that many times Christmas celebrations are an artificial joy and happiness.
People tend to celebrate without the true meaning of Christmas.
At the same time, people cannot celebrate Christmas as they are being affected by natural disasters.
Fr Victor gave the Church’s Christmas message today, where he stressed that Christmas should be a time of joy and happiness in the family.
Fr Victor said that Christmas becomes a real joy when there’s reconciliation in family, clans and communities. It is also a time of Order and Peace, and so he urged people not to drink and cause problems to the communities.
“I urged everyone to take time to attend Christmas Church services,” Fr Victor said.
He also called on thieves to refrain from stealing.
And for those who are affected by frost, and droughts, or those who are sick and could not celebrate Christmas, Fr Victor gave his blessings, for a joyous and peaceful Christmas.
