Arore Prioritizes Road and Sea Transport

Local Level Governments (LLG) in the Ijivitari Electorate in Northern Province are poised to see tangible developments.

 

Through funds from the District Services Improvement Program (DSIP), the local MP and Minister for Higher Education, David Arore, delivered much needed vehicles to various government agencies and churches.

The vehicles and Sea Transport were purchased through the DSIP Transportation Component for the five LLGs in Ijivitari.

 

Ijivitari Electorate is located in the Northern Province.

 

There are five LLGs that comprise Afore Rural, Cape Nelson, Oro Bay, Popondetta Urban and Safia Rural.

 

Its home to almost 65, 000 people who depend entirely on road and sea transport to access basic services.

 

The local MP has made land and sea transport a priority.

 

The Joint District Budget Priority Committee purchased eight new Land Cruisers and two dinghies at the cost of K1.5 million.

 

Apart from this, three ambulances were purchased for Health Centres in the district, and a vehicle for the Anglican Church in Popondetta.

 

Mr. Arore said so much can be done for the District, if and when, necessary service delivery mechanisms were in place.

 

He also warned the different LLG’s to take care of the assets and follow the Transport Policy.

 

Those found abusing their privileges, will be dealt with accordingly.
