In a first for APEC, a host nation has a theme song.
Sung by leading Gospel Band P2UIF, the song which encompasses the aspirations of PNG through APEC, was announced this afternoon (12 November, 2018).
APEC PNG Authority CEO, Christopher Hawkins announced the theme song this afternoon, at the start of the final week of meetings in PNG’s host year.
Also in attendance was Frank Aisi – Deputy Secretary Policy in the Department of Prime Minister & NEC.
Aisi co-wrote the song, and convinced gospel band, P2UIF to sing it, as a contribution to the country as hosts of this year’s APEC series of meetings.
According to the both gentlemen, this could possibly be the first for a host country to have a theme song for APEC – and is indicative of the country’s aim to have a truly Melanesian feel to end PNG’s tenure as hosts.
