NGO Activist Noel Anjo has denied making derogatory comments against Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, and Finance Minister, James Marape, at a recent forum organized by Anjo in the Nation’s Capital.
He said from a recollection of his memory, he can’t remember calling Mr. O’Neill and Mr. Marape names but also said some of his colleague activists and speakers at his public forums may have said it.
He’s response was drawn after Minister Marape and Moresby North East MP, Labi Amaiu, demanded a public apology from him for claims that he (Anjo) had labelled names against the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister.
Prime Minister O’Neill confirmed that his lawyers have instituted defamation proceedings against Mr Anjo at the Waigani National Court.
Mr Anjo said he welcomed the Prime Minister’s actions to sue him for defamation.
Mr. Anjo had organized the forum to address issues affecting the country including the UBS loan, the Unitech Saga, and the 30 months grace period.
