Abau Boxing Association: 5 For Golden Glove Boxing

The Abau Boxing Association will be sending five of its boxers to participate in the Golden Gloves Boxing Competition in Brisbane, Australia, in August this year.

The Golden Gloves competition is Australia’s prominent Amateur Boxing event that brings together boxers from all states in Australia.

The team of three men and two women, will be hoping to fight their way to victory, against Australia’s best.

Debbie and Raphaela Kaore are not just sisters; they are boxers, with a mission.

They will be taking part in the Golden Gloves Boxing competition next month in Brisbane.

Their aim is to use this as their comeback, and lift the profile of women’s boxing in Papua New Guinea.

Coach, Ricky Berua is optimistic about his team.

Apart from Debbie and Raphaela, Berua is banking on Charlie Karo and Beupu Noki to shine at the competition.

Berua expressed disappointment that PNG’s top male boxer in the 75 kg division has been overlooked by the PNG Boxing Union in all overseas events.

Charlie Karo has bagged three Gold medals in the past three National Boxing Championships.

Though his efforts are not being recognized, he is looking forward to the Golden Gloves to build on his career.

The support by Dekenai Construction will go a long way in assisting the boxers in their endeavors.

Coach Berua urged his boxers to utilize the experience which could be useful in representing PNG in upcoming events.
