By Jaylee Sapias – EM TV Sport Port Moresby

The National Boxing Championships set for the end of the month, in Kavieng, New Ireland Province, are set to attract a stellar line up of boxers to the ring.

The championships will attract associations from all around the country.

Among those participating is former three-time Oceania Champion, Jack Willie, who will be representing the Abau Amateur Boxing Association in the 52kg men’s division.

Willie, who last represented PNG in the South Pacific Games in New Caledonia in 2011 will make his return with the full support of his mentor, and President of the Abau Amateur Boxing Association, Ricky Berua.

The Abau Amateur Boxing Association will face stiff competition from the Kairuku Amatuer Boxing Association, who is known for producing some of PNG’s finest boxers.

Dekenai Construction Manager, Jamie Mitchell, presented the Abau Amateur Boxing Association with six airline tickets and said Dekenai was happy to assist in getting the participants to Kavieng, at a press conference today.

Willie and four other boxers leave for Kavieng next Wednesday.
