PNG will host the Melanesian Cup Basketball Championship in Port Moresby in 2018.
Basketball PNG Executive Officer, Joel Khalu told EMTV Sports, that the championship will see six participating countries in the Pacific, including PNG.
He says, both the National Men’s and Women’s teams will promptly enter training regimes after national selections.
It has been over a year since the senior men and women’s teams played their international matches against the other Pacific countries during the 2015 Pacific Games.
Mr Khalu said, Basketball PNG is reaching new heights, with the successful hosting of the U18 Nationals this year and also preparing for the U17 Oceania Championships next year. PNG will play host for U15 Oceania in 2018 including the Melanesian Cup tournament.
The official dates are yet to be confirmed.
