Gordons Secondary 22nd Graduation

A total of 245 grade twelve students graduated from Gordon’s Secondary School in the nation’s capital yesterday.

Among guests at the 22nd Graduation was the Secretary for Education, Dr Uke Kombra, and the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff George Bopi.

Dr Uke commended the school for being recognized for its high standards in discipline in Port Moresby and in the country.

Parents, guardians and friends gathered at the Gordons Secondary School yesterday to witness the 22nd Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony.

Academic prizes were awarded to the top achieving students in the sciences, the social sciences, the core subjects and others. Special awards were also given to students with outstanding leadership qualities as well as in other non-academic areas.

Education Secretary, Dr Uke Kombra, advised the graduands to get into productive activities and to make to most out of all available opportunities.

Representing the Prime Minister was his Chief of Staff, George Bopi, who inspired the graduating students, saying the best gift to give their parents was independence and self-sustenance.

He said the government has assured parents that the Tuition Fee Free Education will be applied next year as well.

The 245 graduating students are part of more than 20,000 grade 12 students nationwide who will be passing out at the end of this year.
