Chief Secretary to Government, Isaac Lupari, has given directions to all Government departments and agencies to continue to work with the private sector for the staging of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup next month.
Lupari said the U-20 Women’s World Cup is a major event that this government has undertaken and there is no better way of promoting Papua New Guinea, than through the tournament where 100 countries with over 140 million viewers will be watching.
Chief Secretary Lupari, issued the directions when speaking at an “All of Government” meeting this week attended by State agencies involved directly with the planning of the tournament.
Luapri said the staging of the tournament costs about K65million and that is Papua New Guinean’s hard earned money. He says it will go in a useful and purposeful investment, not only in terms of infrastructure but also in providing employment opportunity across PNG.
He also took the opportunity to challenge critics of the U-20 Women’s World Cup to stop criticising and come together as one nation to support this great event that will take place next month.
Lupari called on the people that continue to criticise, and are being critical of the tournament, to rally behind the tournament as it will show case the country.
He further stated people often think that it’s easy to organise and put up infrastructure, easy to organise people and easy to get things done. Instead of criticising, he says,Papua New Guinean’s need to sit back and give credit where it’s due.
