Six Suspects Shot by Lae Police in Two Seperate Incidents

Lae police have shot a man in one of his legs when he and two others were intercepted by police during a robbery.

The two other suspects escaped.

Lae Metropolitan Commander Chief Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie Jr, says police believe that the suspect who was shot had served time at the Buyebi jail in Southern Highlands for rape and attempted murder.

On Friday between 9pm and 10pm three men armed with a homemade gun and knives tried to rob a shop opposite Limki settlement.

A homemade gun and ammunition were recovered  by police.

Commander Wagambie, said the suspect is also wanted for questioning in relation to a murder of a high school student in Lae about two years ago.

He will be arrested and charged after getting medical treatment from Angau hospital.

The identities of the other two suspects are known to police.

So far,  Lae police have demonstrated  that  they are able to respond swiftly to public complaints.
