Maradona Takes Part in the Inter-religious Match for Peace

Maradona took centre stage last Wednesday, as global soccer legends took part in an Interreligious Match for Peace, hosted by Pope Francis in Rome, Italy.

The Argentinian’s Blue Team suffered a narrow 4-3 defeat to a White Team including Ronaldinho, Gianluca Zambrotta and Frederic Kanoute.

However, the peacefulness of the occasion was put in jeopardy on the stroke of half time when Maradona came together with his countryman Juan Sebastian Veron.

Maradona had to be restrained while he left the pitch as the pair traded heated words on their way to the tunnel.

Antonio Di Natale, Totti, Nicolas Burdisso and Fernando Cavenaghi found the back of the net for the Blue Team, while Kanoute, Bojan Krkic and Hernan Crespo were on the scoresheet for the White Team.
