Salamaua High School to build new dorm to cater for annual increases of students

Last Friday saw Salamaua High School graduating 312 of its grade 10 students right after the end of their examinations.

In attendance were Huon Gulf  and local level government officials and deputy opposition leader, Sam Basil.

Situated on a ridge that overlooks the Salamaua point and station, the male dormitory has slowly succumbed to time.

But improvements to the deteriorating facilities will soon be made. A K400,000 intervention from the Huon Gulf District Office was made known at this year’s graduation.

The high school is also expected to upgrade its status to become a secondary school as enrollment and dropout rates increase every year.

The Salamaua Local Level Government had also presented a dinghy to the school for administration trips to Lae.
