6.9 Magnitude Earthquake strikes off Kandrian (WNB), PNG

The US Geological Survey detected an earthquake today at a magnitude of 6.9 on the richter scale, 78 kilometres west north-west (WNW) of Kandrian in the West New Britain Province of Papua New Guinea.

There was no immediate tsunami alerts given of the quake which struck at a depth 35.0 kilometres.
