Wisil Visiting Rabaul to Share Sporting Experience

Arriving solo at the Jacksons International Airport today, Papua New Guinea’s sprint queen, Toea Wisil, transited to Rabaul for a four-day visit.

In Rabaul, Toea will meet fellow sprinters, Theo Piniau and Betty Burua, who will be visiting schools to share their sporting experiences, and encourage young boys and girls to be involved with sports.

Wisil, says the aim is to get these children to take up athletics or sports, so they too, can one day become role models in their communities, and represent PNG at regional and international competitions.

Betty Buru, Toea Wisil and Theo Piniau will run a four-day athletics event in schools, where they hope to talk and share their experiences with students of how sports has made them become who they are today.

Wisil will leave the country on Monday for Brisbane, where she will head back to training in preparation for the world championships in London next year.
