Ninety Papua New Guinean law graduates were participants of the fourth consecutive Commercial Litigation Workshop under some of Australia’s top legal experts.
The workshop, as expressed by Australian High Commissioners Councilor, Mark Bailey, was an opportunity for the graduates to upgrade their skills in commercial legal practices.
This, he said, was a step towards enhancing PNGs commercial legal sectors.
The workshop was conducted in partnership with the Legal Training Institute, the Bar Association of Queensland and the Australian Government.
Bailey said the workshop aimed to instill in graduates essential legal practices in Commercial Law that empower them to change the face of PNGs commercial sector.
Ethel Heagi, who spoke for her fellow graduates, expressed that the program although intense as it was, not only helped to put into practice what they had covered in theory, but built their self-confidence and refined their skills.
The Australian Government, Bailey said, has been working in partnership with the PNG government for almost 20 years in preparing law graduates for admission to practise and contribute to a more dynamic and proficient legal practice in PNG.
The weeklong course concluded last week.
