The development of digital broadcasting in the Pacific region comes under the spotlight this morning, as day two of the Pacific Media Partnership Conference 2016 (PMPC2016) gets underway in Port Moresby this morning.
The conference is being hosted for the first time in Papua New Guinea, by the country’s leading television station, EMTV – a station which will soon be making its own transition from analogue to digital transmission in the coming years.
For broadcasters within the Pacific, the switch from analogue to digital transmission represents one of the biggest challenges that the media industry has faced in recent years.
This morning’s proceedings will see updates on the state of the transition to digital for Pacific countries Samoa and Tonga, as well as hosts Papua New Guinea.
