Brazil Through to Olympic Final

Brazillian captain Neymar created Olympic history by scoring the fastest ever goal in the tournament, latching onto a defensive error by Honduras to score in just under 15 seconds.

The creative striker danced his way past two opponents, to open the scoring for the Selecao.

The Brazilians now face Germany for gold in a rematch of the 2014 World Cup semi-final.

While there was a looming shadow over the recent death of former FIFA President Jaoa Havelange, things got off to a fantastic start as the Brazillians pin up boy Neymar got the ball rolling.

While scoring, Neymar would fall awkwardly, stretchered off and returning to the field just a few minutes later and seemingly fully recovered.

In the 26th minute, Gabriel Jesus doubled Brazil’s lead, beating Honduras goalkeeper Luis Lopez to a through ball and flicking it into the back of the net. Nine minutes on, Jesus scored his second and Brazils third as he received a pass from Neymar.

In the second half, Marquinhos found himself wide open in the box off a corner kick and slotted the ball in to add another for the Selecao.

With 11 minutes remaining, Luan made it 5-0, and in stoppage time Luan drew a foul in the box to give Brazil a penalty kick. Neymar stepped up to take the shot and scored to give Brazil a 6-0 thumping.

Brazil now advances to the gold medal match where it will face Germany, in a romantic rematch of 2014’s World Cup semi-final where they were crushed by a German onslaught 7-1.
