The PNG Lewas are in a very strong position in the ICC East Asia Pacific Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers after dominant wins against host nation Samoa, and Japan.
The Lewas thrashed Japan by five wickets to be two from two and are in a sturdy position to take a big step at progressing to the next stage of the competition.
Skipper Pauke Siaka has been a standout for the Lewas. Making an unbeaten half century in the opening win over Samoa, she was devastating with the ball, with an incredible 3 for 8 from her 10 overs as they dismissed Japan for 67 runs in the 44th over.
Although the Lewas are in great form, coach Rodney Maha doesn’t want the team to be complacent and wants them to remain focused and continue their good form.
