Hundreds Gather To Witness Vote of No Confidence Motion

Outside the gates of Parliament House today an estimated 400 people gathered to witness the motion of the Vote of No Confidence against Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill.

Only a small portion of the crowd were allowed in because of the limited seating space inside the chambers.

The road leading to Parliament House was blocked off and traffic police inspected all vehicles that were heading towards parliament’s main entrance.

Security guards at the main gate denied vehicles entry, and all media personnel were asked to walk in.

Many came from provinces outside of the National Capital District to witness today’s proceedings.

There was a strong police presence outside Parliament, and only those dressed appropriately were allowed in.

At 1:30pm just over 100 people were granted access into the chambers, while the rest were turned away.

An even bigger crowd is expected to gather next Friday for the Vote of No Confidence.

Meanwhile, Port Moresby city remained quiet with no reports of any major incidents.
