In an interview with EMTV Sports, Minister for Sports, Justin Tkatchenko, has urged on all provincial teams around the country to prepare themselves for the PNG Games, as the host Province is well underway with its preparations.
He said, facilities should be ready in time, as the town of Kimbe is working on all venues around the town, to make sure all available codes assigned in the games are been catered for.
While Kimbe town in West New Britain Province, is preparing to host the 7th PNG Games, formally known as the grass root games, Tkatchenko said that in his recent visit to Kimbe, both Governor of West New Britain and PNG Sports Foundation CEO, Peter Tsiamalili, have been working closely together to prepare the host province.
Minister said, while Kimbe town is gearing up for this November, other provinces in the country should start getting their technical officials, team manager and athletes ready, and start negotiating talks with their respective Provincial Governors for financial support to help with logistics and other necessaries obligations involved.
He added that youth around the country should really get involved in the games, as many athletes, such as Toea Wisil, has been through these games.
He said, these games should be taken as an opportunit y to showcase PNGs raw talents and to one day make use of them internationally to represent PNG.
The Sports Minister will visit Kimbe again in two weeks, to visit site venues and update on the preparations.
Meanwhile, provincial teams such as, Morobe, Central, NCD, Milne Bay and others have already started preparations for 2016 PNG Games.
