Wales down England in Rugby World Cup Upset

By Lorraine Genia – EMTV Sports, Port Moresby

Wales’ defeat of England on Saturday would have to be one of England’s biggest upsets in the history of the Rugby World Cup.

Wales opened the scoreboard with a penalty kick, placing them in the lead three points to nil at the 10 minute mark.

There were three more penalty kicks in the first half for both teams, but England’s Jonathan May was the first to score a try, which then brought the half time score to 16-9.

The second half saw a much more determined Welsh side.

A try on the 71st minute and a successful conversion by Wales brought the score to 25 all, and it was a penalty goal just on halfway that would see Wales snatch a 28-25 victory.

English captain, Stuart Lancaster was disappointed with his team about the end result, saying much of his team’s focus will now be on their discipline.
