PORT MORESBY, July 8 – Douglas Creek (NFI) shot his way to a gold-winning performance in the 25m pistol mixed competition at the June Valley Shooting Range on Wednesday.
He finished off with a total of 526 points to secure gold in the two-day contest and win Norfolk Island’s first gold of the Port Moresby 2015 Pacific Games.
Creek, who years ago lost the use of his right hand in an accident and learned to use his left hand instead, described winning gold as “absolutely fantastic”.
“It’s just a brilliant dream of life. This is the first time pistol has ever been in the Pacific Games and it’s really good to get Norfolk up there in the limelight for a change,” Creek told the Games News Service.
Freddy Yen Kway (TAH) bagged silver after scoring 524 points while Johan Perchard (NCL) settled for bronze with 522 points.
Creek won bronze in men’s 10m air pistol earlier in the week.
On Thursday July 9 the June Valley Shooting will see mixed single rise shotgun competition starting at 09:00.
