57th Annual Grammy Awards: Eminem Takes his Sixth Best Rap Album Grammy

Music’s biggest names gathered at the 57th Grammy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles, with the hottest names in the industry either to perform their hits or receive honorary awards.

While newcomers like Sam Smith swept almost all the big awards for the night, living legends like Eminem added more to their shelves.

Eminem, dubbed the greatest rapper alive by many, added to this title as he took two more on Sunday.

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 won the Grammy for ‘Best Rap Album’, beating out newcomer Iggy Azalea, while his single ‘The Monster’ with Rihanna took home ‘Best Rap/Sung collaboration’.

Eminem has once again paid respect to Hip Hop history and has cemented his role as the most awarded and top-selling rapper ever, taking this his sixth Grammy for Best Rap Album, bringing his Grammy total to 15.

The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminen’s eighth studio album, is said to be one of his most successful albums, featuring smashing tracks like Rap God, The Monster and Headlights.

The album is considered to be a sequel to his Marshall Mathers LP album released in 2000, and remains the fastest-selling album by a solo artist in the United States.

Unfortunately, he did not attend the award ceremony and his publicist Dennis Dennehy said in an email message to Mlive.com that he had no real explanation for his absence.

“He didn’t attend… That’s all I’ll really say,” wrote Dennehy in the email.

Dennehy also set the record straight, just prior to the Grammys, about the rumoured new album “Roots” that was said to be announced by Eminem himself at the Grammys.

Just when fans were excited about the announcement, Dennehy confirmed that they were “completely untrue” and that “there’s no album announcement coming.”
