Member for Kairuku-Hiri, Peter Isoaimo, was at his district in the Central Province yesterday.

He was in Inauaia at the invitation of a Primary School to mark the school’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Mr Isoaimo presented a funding of K50,000 to the school at the end of the ceremony.

The local MP Mr Isoaimo arrived at Inauaia village in the Kairuku-Hiri district to a rousing welcome, in the midst of the community’s celebrations.

It was the 50th Anniversary of the Mary Immaculate Primary School.

Head Teacher, Amelia Eko, said it was an ideal time to call on former students to remember and support the school.

The school’s board chairman, Mariano Keama, refers to when the school began in 1965, when the standard five was the highest level of education for the students that numbered just over ten. However, he said that the quality of the education was such that most of the students, if not all at the time, became professionals.

Mr Keama said that presently, given the statistics, 700 students in the area should be in schools, however, only about 500 students are enrolled and he called for improvements.

Mr Isoaimo had words of advice for the students.

He then presented funding for the school, which included K10,000 for the elementary school.
