2015 Gulf Budget Focusing on Rural Development

By Jack Lapauve Jr – EM TV, Port Moresby

Treasury Minister, Patrick Pruaitch, has approved the 2015 Gulf Provincial Budget of K115,726,710. It was approved on the 30th of January this year.

Gulf Governor, Havila Kavo, said the budget is rural-based with emphasis now on leaders to define development plans with the provincial annual plan.

Six priority areas to be captured include, Macro Economic Strategy, Infrastructure Development, Road Construction, Education, Health and Agriculture. Kavo said the two MPs and ten LLG Presidents must now put their heads together to see the budget implemented fruitfully.

However, the outcome remains a challenge for public servants in Gulf and elites of the province, to restore and strengthen public service mechanism and bring confidence to the people. Kavo and his administration are begging for all stakeholders to set aside differences for better service delivery.

The Gulf Provincial Administration is opening its doors for an open dialogue with Gulf elites or any stakeholder for development purposes.

Meanwhile Governor Kavo announced that the Provincial Executive Council has decided to outsource audit outside from Gulf for all funds dating back to 2012.
