Tahiti Arrive in Port Moresby for Oceania Cup

by Skola Sengi – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Team Tahiti arrived today as the last squad to land in country for the Oceania Cup and unlike other countries, remain tight lipped about their game plan.

The 30-man team is accompanied by President of Tahiti Rugby Union and Team Manager, Charles Tauziet, who is confident that his team will step-up to the plate come game time.

The Tahitians bring a blend of players to this year’s cup, having 29 members active in the French-based league.

However due to the kick-off of the French Rugby pre-season, only six were released to join the team for the Cup.

They too will also have the added experience of a number of their 7’s contingent from the recent Pacific Games.

With a much smaller competition base in Tahiti, their participation in the Oceania Cup should spark more interest and growth of the code.

Tahiti will face the Pukpuks at 3:00pm tomorrow at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
