Unhappy Landowners Call To Shut Hides Conditioning Plant

by Michelle Amba – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The resource owners led by Andy Hamaga, said the issues that they are raising are not new and the government is fully aware of their grievances starting from outstanding royalties, Business Development Grants and the infrastructure projects as agreed to in the agreement.

The landowners made their stand known to close the Hides conditioning plant.

They say the state has been breaching the agreement and the government is also to be blamed for the delay in the royalty paymen’s.

Their final option is to shut down the gas conditioning plants in Hides next week Tuesday, that is a follow on from a peaceful protest earlier this month.

EM TV News understands the clan vetting process to identify the genuine landowners is before the courts and all landowner royalties have been paid by the developer to a nominated account.

Petroleum and Energy Minister, Nixon Duban, refused to comment on the delay in landowner royalties saying it was before the court.
