Cancer Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Dadi Toka Jnr, announced that more awareness is needed to address cancer in the country.
Mr Toka said this following the increasing number of cancer patients, with only one cancer treatment facility.
The Cancer foundation, in partnership with health authorities, has collaborated to drive awareness campaigns for cancer into the rural areas.
Mr Toka said this organization will address the issue using the existing health facilities, as an avenue to conduct workshops and screening.
The NGO organization is also aiming at providing cancer awareness programs to the 7 million people of this country.
Awareness campaigns will include detecting and diagnosing mouth, cervical and breast cancer.
Volunteers will be engaged to conduct educational awareness, to educate people about this disease.
However, with only one radio therapy machine in Angau General Hospital to treat cancer patients, more awareness is needed to reach the people in the rural areas.
Meanwhile, screening and workshops will be conducted in health facilities around the country.
