A combined workshop was conducted recently in Port Moresby to develop and monitorthe framework of service delivery in Papua New Guinea
The two day workshop ensured government line agencies, NGOs and development partners are well versed on effective service delivery and accountability.
The workshop aimed at improving efficiency and governance of institutions that deliver services by examining, analyzing and reporting onthe performance of public entities.
The participants were told that althoughthere are monitoring mechanisms and systems in place for the public servants to acquit funds,there is inadequate compliance with checks and balances to enforce public finance management act and public service management act.
It was highlighted thatofor service delivery activities to happen, provinces need to allocatetheir own internal revenue to sectors to support frontline operational activities.
The combined workshop was organized by Department of Implementation and Rural DevelopmentoNational Economic & Fiscal Commission and Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs.
