WeCARe Foundation Holds 7th Christmas Picnic

Children from Elementary Schools and care centers aroundthe Nation’s Capital, along with those living with disabilities, yesterday had a fun filled day atthe Port Moresby Nature Park.

They attended a Christmas picnic organized bythe WeCARe Foundation. The picnic is an annual eventoand yesterday was its seventh.

 

More than 400 marginalized children fromthe 8 different Elementary Schools and Care Centers in settlements aroundthe city that are supported bythe WeCARe Foundation hadthe time oftheir lives. Yesterday’s Christmas picnic was especially for them as it included games like cricketotug-of-war, shooting balloons and tins and many more. SomPNG Kumul players were alsothere to teachthe kids on rugby skills.  There was also a live band performance.    

 

This isthe foundation&#39’s 7sup>th annual picnic and it was made possible through Digicel Foundation (who also supportsthe running ofthe foundation), CrickePNG who provided cricket equipment and NRPNG.   

 

Fr. John Glynn who isthe Founder of WeCARe Foundation and has been inthe country for 50 years now, saidthe Foundation was created to closethe gap between in basic services reachingthe people.

 

Digicel Foundation Program Manager for Community developmentoRhoda Moses, said Digicel is proud to support WeCARe because that is what Digicel Foundation also stands for.

 

The day ended withthe children enjoying a sausage sizzle and receiving gifts fromthe Digicel Foundation Santa.
