Popondetta General Hospital underInvestigation

An investigation is underway atthe Popondetta General Hospital concerningthe Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Health Minister Michael Malabagsaid this follows several complaints by staff of mismanagement.

This isthe second investigation launched intothe Popondeta General Hospital.

Last year staff raised concerns about mismanagement of funds andthe minister approverd an investigation intothe hospital’s top post –the Chief Executive Office.

The acting CEO Dr. Ganzi Ganwin (pictured) who was also present atthe conference had been asked to step aside and allow investigations to commence.

During his absence,the office will be occuplied by former CEO for the Port Moresby General Hospital Sam Vegogo.

The Oro Governor Gary Juffa welcomedthe investigation saying it is normal procedure.

Juffa added thatthe Acting CEO since being appointed in 2009 did exceptionally well to maintainthe hospital despitethe lack of resources.

The hospital currently provides health services to over thirty thousand people inthe province.

The minister is overlookingthe affairs atthe moment; a new board is promised after this investigation.
