Employers must consider skills training in rural areas, says President oPNG Training and Development Society, George Arua.
Mr. Arua said most times, training was concentrated in cities but he says a shift tothe rural areas will have a huge impact inthe communities.
He madethese remarks duringthe annual conference onthe 2013 National Trainers Conference for Training and Development atthe Crown Plaza Hotel this morning.
The conference was well – attended by members ofthPNG Training and Development Society and Professional Trainers representing various businesses, government departments, companies and organisations inthe business of Training and Development.
Withthetheme, ‘Capacity Beilding for Cutting Edge Organisations inthe Emerging Business Order’,the Conference was officially opened by Governor General Sir Michael Ogio.
Sir Michael’s message was clear that an organisation cannot be successful if it does not train its staff. Employers must also provide a conducive environment inthe work place for workers to perform well.
Representtting over 100 Members oPNG Training and Development Society, President George Arua saidthe conference is an avenue for the trainers to discuss human resource development.
He couldn’t give statistics onthe current number of skilled workforce inthe country, but says some companies have managed to traintheir staff well.
He urged employers to extend training to rural areas to discover potential skills.
PNG Training and Development Society will also awardthe Best Trainer ofthe Year tomorrow evening.
