Remote Madang Village gets Better Access to Health

The people of Josephstaal inthe remote Middle Ramu District of Madang province can now have access to better health care.

 

This followsthe opening of new health facilities by Australian High Commissioner tPNG, Deborah Stokes.

This project was initiated bythe Madang Catholic Archdiocese withthe assistance ofthe AusAIDIncentive Fund.

 

Josephstaal is poorly connected to an effective road network, and can only be accessed by air.

 

Health services in this area have declined overthe last years, with high infant and mortality rate recorded.

 

The opening of new health facilities like staff houses, have lessenedthe pain to walk miles, to access proper medical assistance.

 

ther facilities likethe health center and pediatric ward were maintained.

 

Madang Catholic Archbishop Steven Reichart praisedthe Josephstaal community, for taking ownership of this projectoandthe Catholic Health Services throughthe lLeadersip of Sr Theresita Kol.

 

The Josephstaal facilities arethe final phase of 7.9 million kina in health infrastructure bythe Catholic Health Service inthe four districts of Madang, funded bythPNG AustralianIncentive Fund.
