Opposition Against Government’s Amendment plan

The Opposition has lashed out onthe Governments proposed Amendments tothe Constitution in particular Section 124 and Section 145.

According tothe Governmentoit’seeks to makethe vote of no confidence soul transparent.

The Opposition has describedthe mover as a direct assault oPNG’s Constitution.

The Oppositions says ifthe Government is serious about good governance,then a transparent environment should be established.

The proposed changes from one tenth to one third of signatures of MP’sto mover a vote of no confidence is seen as complementary tothe earlier law in increasingthe grace period.

The Opposition has called onthe Prime Minister to withdraw his Governments proposed amendments.

Meanwhile,the Opposition has recommended three suggestions for National interestoa National Referendum, introduction of second chamber and serious consideration to containthe powers ofthe Executive Government.
