Minister for Commerce and Industry defends PMIZ land issue

Share the News

Minister for Commerce and Industry, Wera Mori, has defended a front page report on one of the dailies, stating that they did not get their facts right on the status of the PMIZ land issue.

The Minister said the media organisation failed to obtain information from his Department or the Lands Department on the status of the land.

This comes after the court has ordered the state to pay compensation to a group of alleged landowners of the PMIZ land project site.

However, Mori defended the state saying that the land was previously owned by the RD Tuna Canners who had purchased the land from the Catholic Mission.

Mori, said their lawyers have been instructed to file an appeal to the National Court in Madang to get to the core of the PMIZ land issue.
