It took almost six months for police to completethe investigations into a shooting that left one dead and anther seriously injured during a fatal episode of student violence in Lae early this year.
It came as a relief tothe relatives of Tobias Hombi and Dimas Dobbie after police revealed that a police suspect responsible for their shooting has been identiflied.

The investigation and a post mortem revealedthe two students’suffered injuries from a bullet believed to have been fired from a police firearm.

The head of Lae’s Metropolitan command, Iven Lakatani, saidthe arrest ofthe suspect involved inthe shooting will be made this week.

Tobias Hombi dlied from a bullet wound to his neck while Dimas Dobbie sustained injuries to his chest.
The bullet is believed to have been fired from a police firearm during an attempt by police to disperse students’during a student fight in May earlier this year.
A post mortem also confirmed Tobias’s death was a result of a bullet wound while Dimas received injuries fromthe same gun on his chest.
The head ofthe Police in Lae could not revealthe identities ofthe suspectobut saidthe arrest will be made soon andthe suspect will be trlied in court.

The case that was scheduled to be heard atthe Lae committal court yesterday was deferred to Monday.
The relatives ofthe two students’meanwhile saythey will have to wait for the outcome ofthe court on Monday beforethey take any futher actions.
